Let's help Chris along with his "tree struck by lightning" analogy. Check out the photos, then leave a comment telling him what analogy you would draw (to God, the bible, etc) from the tree.
Oh yeah, and Life Group is on as usual at
our place this week, from 7:30pm. Please leave a comment if you can bring supper! See you there!

Could it be the burning bush?
When the power of God hits you...it goes right through!
or...
If you stand still too long then watch out!
Whilst in a storm , all the trees are actually trying to connect with the lightning bolts , sending up little static electric charges . Thats what the storm is looking for on earth to make a connection , when a lightning bolt impacts a tree unimaginable amounts of electrical charge goes through it . All types of dramatic changes occur inside and out ,the sap boils then explodes , the leaves are burnt and bark brakes off .
The most interesting change being the way the tree now is muliple times stronger and incredibly hard to cut up , tree loppers have to take spare chainsaws and multiple chains because of the trees transformed strength.
However , i think this causes the tree to die , though it remains standing , it looses its leaves , all the bark falls off and it doesn't grow any larger . No longer constantly trying to out grow its neighbours and get as much of the light it can , but now in a storm it stands still and firm , its leaves no longer causing resistance to the wind .
Then in a bush fire the wood of this tree burns hotter than any other tree of its kind , dead or alive , encouraging the catalytic change to the surrounding trees to seed and cause new growth.
Bit like and encounter and touch from GOD.
P.S. not to mention that thats how GOD starts bushfires too? , that powerful purposeful process of clearing out the bush of dead old dead things to promte new growth .......
i'll have to stop now i can feel a soap box moment coming on.
Oh and thanks for the analogical question , i enjoyed that revelation i hope others do too . I'm going to ponder and reflect apon trees struck by lightning more now.
